Our New Favorite News Anchor

Holly Bounds of WSAV in Savannah, Georgia tweeted this about Charleston Thug Life a few hours ago:

We were astonished to find a news anchor who seemed more interested in our research and investigative techniques than in calling us racists. Refreshing indeed!

We decided to do a quick primer for Holly. We started by typing "Savannah" into the Facebook search box. One of our first hits was a fellow using the name "Twan Badazz East Savannah". When we visited his wall we found this photo which looks suspiciously like it was taken in a jail cell.

Reading a bit further we discovered Twan's badazz is indeed incarcerated and it appears he is posting from his prison cell via mobile phone.

Anyone out there care to guess what Twan might be serving time for?

With no obvious clues to Twan's true identity we moved on to his friends list. Well, well, well. Look who we found there. It's "Robert Edward Kimble", an inmate at Hays State Prison who starred in one of our blog posts. He is still posting to his Facebook page which is under the name "Bam Kimble". This character posted just twenty-three hours ago about smoking marijuana and drinking in prison.

Kimble also tells us he will be released to a halfway house at the end of 2012.

So, an inmate at Hays State Prison is on Twan's friends list. The logical thing to do is bring up the inmate search for the Georgia Department of Corrections, which, by the way, is the best we have seen. Kudos to Georgia! Since we don't know Twan's full name we enter "Twan" in the alias search box, check the boxes for black and male, then choose Hays State Prison as the most recent institution. We chose to search active offenders and results with photos, then hammered the submit button.  A list of possible matches with photos is returned. Using those photos and the information in the record we were able to identify "Twan Badazz" as Dominic Antwan Jamal Boddie, who has "bad ass" listed as an alias and a release date coming up very soon.

Boddie is doing time for convictions on possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and two counts of entering a motor vehicle. He has two previous prison retreats to his credit.

Now, if this was a Charleston thug we would pull up the county case search sites for the tri-county area and examine his criminal history.

Instead, we will spend some more time in Boddie's friends list. We find he is linked to another blog star, "Tweezy Pedro" via a mutual friend, "Jamal Lul Mal Robinson".

Then we find another prisoner, "Larry WatersAve Baker" and his buddy Lil Crow. They look young. We couldn't find a Baker in the inmate search who fit this guy so we suspect that isn't his actual name in his profile or he is either in a juvenile facility or a county lockup.

He hasn't posted much lately, but apparently his phones keep getting 'booked'. We suspect he will be back, based on the frequency of his prior postings and photo uploads.

Larry is an advocate of Satin. Hehe! Oh man, this is too easy.

Our friend Dominic Boddie even posted a scream for freedom on Larry's wall.

Well, Holly, there you have it. A basic primer on how to do what we do here at Charleston Thug Life. We only made it through the letter "L" on Boddie's friends list. Remember, when we started this journey we had only typed "Savannah" in the Facebook search box. We spent just over two hours on the research and evidence collection, with a short apple pie break thrown in for good measure.

Happy Hunting, Holly!

  1. How do you keep track of all these thugs? I imagine you have a huge dry erase board with a family tree type flow chart....

  2. We were just discussing that the other night. Right now we just keep them bookmarked - profiled and pending. We finally had to start breaking them down into gangs, prisons, areas, etc. Even when we start on a new group we often find they are eventually connected.

We need some of that software the gang investigators use to keep track of their suspects and plot connections.

  3. Now, let's just hope that she will take this info. and run with it. It would be great to see interviews with judges, solicitors, and even those in charge of the government housing where these thugs live. Thanks for keeping us updated and all the hard work you all are doing!

  4. I'd like to see a few interviews with elected officials, judges in particular. Interview a few cops with some gray in their hair. Do a series of interviews with the man on the street, or more accurately the soccer mom in the mall parking lot, and ask her how she'd deal with one to three of these choir boys were they to ask her for a quick ride to church.
