NCPD Arrests Armed Robbery Suspect

Say what you will about the North Charleston Police Department, but one thing is very apparent - those cops solve crime. News reports tell us the department has arrested Jerry Ernest Ballard of Hunters Ridge Lane. Turns out Ballard is the serial armed robber who has been hitting one convenience store after another, even firing a shot in one. Too bad Officer K. Jones wasn't able to put a bullet in his dome very early on. Ballard's address at the time of his previous arrest was 67C Hunters Ridge Lane. That address is now a four digit number since North Charleston annexed the area.

We searched the Tri-county databases and only came up with one prior arrest for Ballard. We are sure he has more. In 2009 he was charged with Assault & Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature. He pled guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison by Judge Diane Goodstein. Ballard was apparently released from prison recently.

We will be watching to see what type of bonds are set in these most recent crimes. So will the rest of the citizens of the Lowcountry. Bond judges should take note of that fact.

  1. We here in Georgetown County covet that you have law enforcement that actually solve crimes. Here you can't even get them to take complaints let alone solve crimes. Here is a news article that solidifies the citizens complaints of lack of law enforcement. Pay close attention to the response of the Georgetown County Sheriff. No plan to address any of the issues-just insults the population that departed and those that are planning to. Here is the article as reported by the Coastal Observer.
