One More Oxy Bandit Down *Updated*

The much maligned, but hard working, North Charleston Police Department rounded up an Oxy bandit and managed to save his worthless life in the process. It seems David Burkhead Abbot robbed the Walgreens pharmacy at Ashley Phosphate and Dorchester at knife point. He made off with a haul of oxycontin, ran home and promptly overdosed.

We have been told via e-mail that Abbott may have been the fellow chased into a Food Lion and Tased by NCPD back in May. We don't see an arrest record from that date, so that information is still unconfirmed.


Abbot has been arrested before. He was charged with Unlawful Possession of Prescription Narcotics in 2005. He pled guilty after the case was kicked down to the magistrate level and he paid a $25 fine.

This past March he was charged again with Unlawful Possession of Prescription Narcotics. The 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed the charge two months later.

Now he's robbing pharmacies to get his drugs. Nice job, Scarlett.


Update: Seems like Abbott has been arrested elsewhere.
