Marley Lion Murder Questions

A number of folks have emailed us with questions about this case. Some are a bit burned that CPD had at least two of these suspects detained within minutes of the murder, one of whom fit the description of the shooter as provided by Marley Lion himself. Readers are wondering why those individuals were released without further interrogation.

News articles at the time quoted from the police report which indicated the two suspects got all ghetto on the officers. It is highly likely they were creating a scene to distract officers from the task at hand. Most of you have seen this behavior before when some blacks are caught shoplifting or when they lodge a BS complaint in a store in an effort to create such a scene they are given something for free to make them go away. And yes, for some of us here at CTL this is an almost daily occurrence at work.

If this type of ghetto theater resulted in the officers feeling pressured to let the suspects go we would be very concerned. Yes, folks, some police departments are extremely 'sensitive' about things like that. We would hope CPD is not one of them. We do feel a detailed explanation of why those two suspects were released should be extended to the citizenry.

Of more concern to the public are the words of George Brown's father. Based on his news interviews it would appear he was quite familiar with the events surrounding the murder of Marley Lion, he apparently knew who was present at the scene with his son and who had the murder weapon in their possession.

Citizens are wondering why Brown's father has not been charged. In our opinion he could be charged with either accessory after the fact or with misprision of a felony. The second charge simply means he knew about a felony which had been committed and failed to report what he knew to the police.

We finally got a chance to have a few beers together this evening and as a result of our discussions we settled on two possible reasons why the elder Brown has not been charged. The first, which doesn't give much credit to CPD is that the department just doesn't want to mess with it as charging the old man might make them appear vindictive. Most of us would like to see him charged based on his statements and his encouragement to other thugs to keep their mouths shut.

The second possibility is that potential charges against the elder Brown might be used as a club to guarantee the cooperation and testimony of George Brown. Don't testify, or testify untruthfully and we will bring charges against your father. We like that tactic.
